Abstract
It has been estimated that about 10 to 15 per cent of foodgrains produced in India is lost due to unscientific post-harvest operations and practices. The major post-harvest operations are drying, transportation, storage and processing. Among these operations, drying and storage are the two basic operations if not carried out properly, they may result in loss of grains both in quantity and quality, to a great extent.
